Bengaluru Tech Summit 2018

Karnataka is globally recognised as the IT and BIO capital of India and Bengaluru has gained the reputation as the 4th largest technology cluster of the world. It is also home to the largest pool of R&D and Educational Institutions, which are coupled with many path breaking initiatives. Karnataka contributes over 1/3rd of the biotech exports and is home to over 50% biotech companies of the country.

The Dept. of IT & BT, Government of Karnataka is organising its 21st edition of flagship event ‘BENGALURU TECH SUMMIT’ will be held from 29th November to 1st December 2018 at Palace Grounds, Bengaluru. This year’s theme is ‘Innovation & Impact’. This event has always been a strategic platform for industries, technologies, and use cases worldwide to understand and to leverage the latest technical innovations and technical repercussions on our businesses and daily lives.

In the event, Karnataka State Remote Sensing Applications Centre conducted different sessions and the details are given bellow:

K-GIS workshop as a Deep Tech Session

A workshop of K-GIS was organized as a Deep Tech Session on the last day data and applications by the GoK departments. The session was conducted in hall 4 between 12.00 Noon and 01.30 PM. There were five speakers, three from KSRSAC and two from user departments, making presentation on various themes related to K-GIS. The particulars of presentation are given below:

Highlights of session:

Mr. A. S. Rajashekar, while speaking on K-GIS andits data highlighted on components of K-GIS, categories of the 300+ GIS layers, use of asset locations particularly aganwadies, schools, colleges and health centres and the new spatial framework as a common framework for all the geospatial data generated in the state. He narrated how the spatial data linked MIS data transformed the decision making process and serve the GoK departments in making effective decisions.
The presentation of Mr. S. Nagoor Kani was on immersive 3D visualization over Karnataka. He screened a short film produced from the DEM of Karnataka. It provided a feast of 3 D visualization of landforms of Karnataka as from the sky which included Bengaluru plateau, the evergreen Western Ghats, agriculturally rich Krishna and Tungabhadra valleys, Bellary mines, historical Badami fort and dry lands of Chitradurga. It was an unique short educational experience.
Ms. Priyanka Pereira explained the usage of K-GIS portal and the mobile and web applications developed to assist the GoK departments. The highlights of her presentation are:
- Tools and queries developed to view the information.
- Department wise applications which support decision making.
- Viewing of assets and themes of area of interest.
- Provision of APIs to facilitate use of K-GIS data in developing user interested applications.
- Provision of data and map services.
- Provision to download spatial data files.
Ms. Vidya Rani, The Joint Director, UMC (KMDS) made a presentation on “Urban applications Using K-GIS”. She explained the details of urban applications provided by K-GIS particularly in the area of base map for AMRUT cities and in updating and tax collection of urban properties.
Ms. Jamuna, the IT Head, KIADB presented the salient points of collaboration between KIADB and K-GIS. She highlighted the contribution of K-GIS in providing map of Industrial Estates and the application developed by KSRSAC for on line viewing of status of plot allocation, to apply and track status of applications seeking plot allocation till completion of the process flow.

Geospatial Innovations in the Times of Disruptive Changes

The session on “Geospatial Innovations in the Times of Disruptive Changes” (1st Dec 2018 between 2.30 pm to 4 pm) was chaired by Padma Sri Dr. MYS Prasad, the Vice-Chancellor, Vignan’s Foundation for Science, Technology and Research University. In his opening remarks he mentioned that Geospatial technologies and applications are the future of governance needs in the country. Highlights of session:

Shri.Agendra Kumar, presented the various features of ESRI’s ArcGIS Suite – specifically the advanced features of ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server integration of Machine Learning, IoT, Bigdata etc
Shri.Abhay Swarup Mittal explained about the satellite datasets, change detection algorithms, automatic feature extraction algorithms using high resolution data. He also showcased various unique projects of project monitoring, automatic landuse mapping and forest cover assessment being carried out by Skymap Global
Dr.Bharat Lohani explained the fundamentals of LIDAR technology, various types of sensors (Aerial, Mobile, Terrain fixed, Drone etc) and the unique case studies and applications of LIDAR in Terrain modelling that are being carried out by M/s Geokno Ltd and the students research of IIT-Kanpur.
Shri Laxmi Prasad Putta presented that unique case studies of M/s Vassar Labs that are being implemented by Andhra Pradesh specially in the areas of Water resources monitoring and management, Artifical intelligence / IoT based analysis for various schemes. He presented the Geospatial analytics and visualisation of the results and governance decisions being taken up in the state.
Shri Jayachandran briefed on the vision and achievements of K-GIS. He explained the various activities which K-GIS has helped the industry and academia in the last 2 years and outlined the vision for K-GIS in the next 2-3 years in the path of embracing various technologies for effective governance in the state. He also listed some of the project activities that may be initiated in the GoK departments in the next 2 years and the areas where industry and academia gets associated.

The second session of the afternoon was on “Drone Technologies and Applications” (1st Dec 2018 between 04.00 pm to 05.30 pm). There were five speakers in the session and the topics of presentations are given below:

Highlights of session:

Dr Srivastava summarized the guidelines for commercial use of UAV (Drone) services issued by DGCA. He underlined the importance of 01 Dec. 2018 in the history of UAS ecosystem development in the country. Guidelines to be followed by various stakeholders (owner, lessee, Operator, Pilot) including licensing, certification and flight permissions were described in brief. Guidelines from GoK to ensure that the data collected over Karnataka is converted to State spatial framework and submitted to KGIS for use by multiple stakeholders was emphasized. Role of KSRSAC as nodal agency for spatial data acquisition, processing and use in applications was underlined.
Dr MYS Prasad elaborated on necessity to treat UAS as examples of integrated engineering. The need for understanding and developing all aspects of this fast growing system was emphasized. Dr Prasad reiterated that the eco system for effective commercial use of UAS includes appropriate policies, training and testing environments for entrepreneurs.
Mr Palani shared the experience of their company in working with survey grade UAVs in infrastructure projects. Details of hardware and software were shared.
WG CDR Polu Sridhar shared the experience of their company in working with custom made UAVs for various projects in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Technical and operational aspects of Pratham Andhra a G governance project of Andhra Pradesh Government and use of clusters of UAVs for data acquisition for the project were shared.

K-GIS Hackathon

The Karnataka State Remote Sensing Applications Centre (KSRSAC) conducted an exclusive hackathon on geospatial technologies and applications in association with Bengaluru Tech Summit-2018. The KSRSAC provided the GIS ready datasets, geo-tagged under Karnataka Geographic Information System (K-GIS) project – A flagship program of Government of Karnataka. The 8 real time use cases were received from departments of GoK, and published in hackarearth platform, which are unique and challenging in current scenario. The details of the problem statement is:

Creation of Georeferenced Anaglyph image mosaic
Stereo Imagery products are designed for advanced image processing capabilities and photogrammetry, which are ideal for digital elevation model generation and 3D visualization of the terrain. The advantage of stereo imagery is the ability to extract vector features and geographic features in 3D such as buildings, roads, manmade structures and other terrain features. The sample dataset of Cartosat 1 stereo pair with RPC corrected files (4 adjacent pairs) will be provided or participants can also use their own data set from any other satellite programs.
Application for direct farmer connect (Industry / Individuals)
For many years, farmers in India have had little freedom in choosing markets and buyers for their produce. Farmers are selling their produce through state-owned mandis, retail markets where intermediaries squeeze farmers to increase margins. In such a situation, can GIS technology-enabled solutions help Indian farmers to sell their produce directly to customers? It is desired to have a platform wherein the farmers and consumers can interact directly. The platform should enable the farmers to directly record the availability of produce (type, variety, qty and cost) which can be consolidated and made available to consumers (traders, business houses and retail consumers). The participants can use the online available dataset or proxy data.
Block Chain and GIS for Land Transaction
In today’s globalized and highly democratized and decentralized geospatial data environment, there are multiple data owners and multiple parties claim different levels of authority on the data. In such an environment, a complete, correct and consistent data could only be created and maintained by collaborative management and mutually reconciled workflows where a new data sharing, decentralized data approving, quality assurance and data delivery model and mechanism needed. Eventually, geospatial data owned by multiple institutes and even individuals force the conventional ownership and definitions of property rights to be adapted according to new environment. The participants are to develop application using blockchain technology in GIS based land transaction. The participants can use the online available dataset or proxy data.
GIS for Runoff and Water management
Estimation and assessment of surface runoff is an important and relevant issue of hydrological, as well as geographical research and it directly influence the water management related issues. The components involved in Runoff estimation are soil texture, slope, curve number and climatic factors. These data sets are available in many open source platform Indian Meteorological department, Karnataka State Natural Disaster Management Centre etc.,
Bigdata for Villagewise - Water Budget Analysis
Big data analytics is the often-complex process of examining large and varied data sets to uncover information including hidden patterns, unknown correlations, market trends and customer preferences. The water budget analysis include volume, velocity and variety of data set related to rainfall, humidity, temperature, evapotranspiration, crop yield, soil texture, lithology and geomorphology. These data sets for sample area will be exposed to participants. The participants can use the online available dataset or proxy data.
AI for Malnutrition and Climate relation
AI is accomplished by studying how human brain thinks and how humans learn, decide, and work while trying to solve a problem, and then using the outcomes of this study as a basis of developing intelligent software and systems. The malnutrition problem are indirectly proportional to climate variable, which are still un-tackled by health experts with available technology. The participants can use the online available dataset or proxy data.
ML for object recognition for landuse classification
The traditional method acquiring the object’s information from the satellite image is through visual interpretation. The method needs the interpreter has abundant geo-science knowledge and visual interpreting experience and the interpreter takes a lot of time to interpret it. Its labor intensity is high. The quality of interpretation is affected by the interpreter’s experience and the familiarity of the region etc. These kind of problems can be overcome by machine learning for object recognition for landuse classification and change detection.
GIS for effective Traffic management of Bangalore
The biggest challenge faced by Bangalore traffic police is managing ever-increasing traffic on roads. Bangalore has witnessed not only exponential growth of population but also phenomenal growth in vehicles. As cities expand, the travel demand also increases leading to high volume of traffic. Increase in volume of traffic without corresponding increase in road infrastructure has resulted in traffic congestion, perennial traffic jams, pollution and increase in road accidents. Some of the significant problems leading to traffic congestion are;
- Phenomenal growth in vehicular traffic
- Poor urban traffic planning
- Zero parking infrastructure and unregulated parking
- Traffic congestion and bottlenecks
- Increased journey time

Release of K-GIS Manual

The manual contains the details of K-GIS data and content, which is conceptualized as geospatial technology platform to ensure availability of updated “GIS ready data” of specified standards for use by GoK departments, citizens and enterprises. The standards ensure interoperability, integration, consistency and economy of effort. It has a state-wide, standardized, seamless updated and configured GIS ready data to meet the application needs of government, citizens and enterprises which includes satellite images, thematic maps, ground survey and MIS data with geographic reference.

The manual contains the basics of Unmanned Aerial Systems for use in acquisition of Near Earth Remote Sensing data and its use in providing geospatial services, mainly for the departments of Govt. of Karnataka. A summary of the guidelines provided by DGCA in use of UAS services as well a set of guidelines for departments of GoK to help them to use this new technology for their departmental needs.

About K-GIS Data

One of the major activities of K-GIS project is mapping and geo-tagging of departmental and public assets and linking & updating departmental MIS data to spatial data in a defined time frame. The K-GIS Portal is designed and developed to visualize all the asset information, as a single gateway access to assets of Government of Karnataka. The datasets are grouped based on the nature of data usage and functional activities for ease of user access. Metadata Service

Metadata summarizes basic information about data, which can make finding and working with particular instances of data easier, K-GIS generated metadata information for all the spatial layers hosted in K-GIS Portal. The information in the metadata is rich with more than 25 parameters viz., Abstract, Data Type, Date of Metadata Creation, Metadata Standard Version, Theme keyword, Date of generation, Generated by, completion status, Updated frequency, Source agency, Usage. Sectors / Departments wise application

K-GIS have customized departmental applications which are being used for taking decision, tracking project implementation, monitoring progress and policy definition. Apart, general application with standardized query on attribute and spatial nature are made available so that query and analysis of data within and across the layers are achieved. Multiple visualization options like cluster maps, heat maps, colour coded maps, chart / graph, tables etc. are provided for various queries. The overlay functions of layers and adding custom data available with users to the KGIS data on a browser, data overlay from other portals / URL based web services are some of other key highlights.

Hackathon in Bengaluru Tech Summit-2018

Karnataka State Remote Sensing Applications Center (KSRSAC), the implementing Agency of Karnataka State GIS (K-GIS) is conducting a GIS Hackathon in association with Bengaluru Tech Summit-2018. It's one of the first in the country to conduct an exclusive hackathon on geospatial technologies and State's GIS datasets available within K-GIS. The winners will get good prize money. The Innovative and impactful solutions / concepts would get additional advantage of continuing the implementation with separate orders worth up to 10 lakhs or more.

Interested Participants (Individuals, team of experts, startups, companies / firms, researchers, colleges, institutes,...) interested in participating and showcasing the talents on Image processing, GIS, photogrammetry along with Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Bigdata analytics, Block Chain etc. can try and establish the talents.

About K-GIS

K-GIS is a flagship program of Government of Karnataka (GoK) which is conceptualized as geospatial technology platform to ensure availability of updated “GIS ready data” of specified standards for use by GoK departments, citizens and enterprises. Karnataka GIS (K-GIS) – Special Edition on BTS 2018

Bengaluru Tech Summit 2018 was conducted by Department of IT, BT and S&T between 29^th Nov and 1^st Dec 2018 and were able to get a vivid picture of the vibrant innovation and technology ecosystem in Karnataka. These three days of the celebration of our success and tech engagements had 11,000+ visitors, 11+ countries, 50 sessions, 200+ speakers, 200+ startups, 250+ exhibitors – the numbers say it all. In its 21st edition, "Bengaluru Tech Summit" has achieved an energy level from where it can go only further.

As part of Bengaluru Tech Summit 2018, KSRSAC/K-GIS conducted series of events and showcased lot of spatial activities and knowledge transformation through scientific exhibition, workshop and technical sessions. The K-GIS hackathon is one of the first and unique hackathon conducted – especially in the areas of geospatial innovation. More than 6000 users went through the details of hackathon with modest entries of over 35 entries top 4 innovative ideas were selected and prizes distributed. The KSRSAC stall was one of the highlights of the event with vibrant engagement of over 2000 visitors– exploring spatial information of Karnataka & visualisation of state in 3D (stereo view). K-GIS Hackathon

The Karnataka State Remote Sensing Applications Centre (KSRSAC) conducted an exclusive hackathon on geospatial technologies and applications in association with Bengaluru Tech Summit-2018 – supported by Hackearth, IBM and Digital Ocean. The KSRSAC provided the GIS ready datasets, geo-tagged under Karnataka Geographic Information System (K-GIS) project – A flagship program of Government of Karnataka. 8 themes / problem statements (click here) of real time use cases were posted as challenges, and expected unique and innovative ideas of implementation for the same. The exhibits covered the centres expertise, projects, process and products. More than 2000 number of departmental officials, schools and college's students, industry, print and electronic media visited the stall and explored the spatial data of Karnataka and its applications. Karnataka GIS (K-GIS)-Maulya Application

Maulya mobile application is developed for Stamps & Registration department, to help citizens to know the guidance value of the immovable properties in Karnataka, as per the datasets and business rules defined in the departmental application, Kaveri.

Launch

Hon'ble Chief Minister of Karnataka Shri.H.D.Kumaraswamy launched Kaveri Online Services that help citizens in need of various services offered by the Stamps & Registration department. Kaveri helps citizens do a host of transactions online without having to visit a sub-registrar's office. The government is introducing online option for a host of services to ensure that the services reach the targeted group of citizen. The government will deploy technology in more departments for better delivery of services and for enhanced transparency, the Chief Minister said, on the occasion.

Hon'ble Revenue Minister Shri.R.V.Deshpande said people come to expect a lot from his department, which deals with them closely. In view of this, he said, he will work on bringing about more people friendly reforms. Marriages are registered based on the residence of the bride/groom. The portal provides the list of jurisdictional sub-registrars. The Stock Holding Corporation of India, meanwhile, will provide e-stamp paper on payment of a fee in the portal. Citizens can take printouts for purposes of drafting agreements and affidavits.

If you are buying or selling a property, and wants to know its market value as determined by the government for purposes of calculating the stamp duty, the online system calculates the exact market value for you. With a few easy steps, the online system then calculates the stamp duty payable. 'Maulya', the mobile application developed by KSRSAC helps people locate any property in the state on the map and get guidance value of the property. Just by clicking on the map in the app, the user can get details like its location, survey number and the app even helps the user with details of sub-registrar's office concerned. According to officials, it is first of its kind mobile application in the country. Maulya application is available in Android and iOS. The online portal provides location of 250 sub-registrar offices in Karnataka, which helps citizens to understand jurisdictions.

About web GIS application

It has all the information about the district registration office and its jurisdiction, sub registration office and its jurisdiction – similar to the mobile version. The valuation details are also can be seen in the portal, which is linked to the Kaveri Online Services web portal developed by Stamp and Registration department. The information can be visualized based on the area of interest viz., district, taluk, hobli and facilitates to generate user defined reports and maps. Based on the buffer area near by facilities can be visualized depending on the user defined buffer distance. It has demographic data (male, female, urban and rural population) and thematic data (Lithology, Mineral, Structural, Geomorphology, Soil, Slope, Land use land cover, and Ground water) and user can also generate heat maps. Functionality for updating the officer contact details is available for authorised department users which help the database updated, whenever transfer/ changes happen. It also contains the statistics of district registration office, sub registration office, and its jurisdiction boundary with additional information like office code, officer name, email-ID, phone number, address and pin code. Success Story of GIS Usage KIADB

As you are aware, Karnataka GIS (K-GIS) is spreading its wings on usage of GIS in various departments and public needs. This is being used by many departments to map all assets, visualize the data together with various departmental assets, integrate the existing data and applications of various departments and deriving meaningful information for decision making and planning.

With the available datasets of K-GIS, some of the case studies and successful implementation of GIS application in departmental usage and public consumption is planned to be showcased. In that context, the current promotional series describes the utilization of GIS in industrial sector, particularly by Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board and the benefits which are realized by the department on using GIS with its own departmental data and inter departmental datasets.

The below article provides insights of the functional part of GIS web application for Industrial layouts and the benefits of GIS in KIADB. Overview of KIADB

Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) is a statutory body, constituted under sec.5 of Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Act (KIAD Act)-1966 vide order No. Cl 67 GMI 66 dated 20th June 1966 to promote rapid and orderly establishment and development of industries and for providing industrial infrastructural facilities and other amenities in Industrial areas in the State of Karnataka. KIAD Act-1966, a special Act, provides for expeditious acquisition of lands for industrial and infrastructure purposes.

KIADB functions as per statutory provisions, Rules and Regulations enacted under the KIAD Act. The Board comprises of senior Government Officers in their ex-officio capacities. The Board members meet regularly to take decisions and monitor the functions. The vision of KIADB and world class infrastructure has made investors all over the world take notice of Karnataka as the premier destination for their startups and ventures.

GIS in KIADB

In its attempt to ensure orderly development of industrial areas and attract more investment to the State, the KIADB had proposed to map Industrial Areas using the Geographical Information System (GIS) to enable investors to know the Land status, availability of plots and implementation of projects by allottees, and other information.

KIADB, with support from Karnataka State Remote Sensing Applications Centre (KSRSAC) created the Geographical Information System (GIS) database of all spatial datasets (Plots and infrastructure data) of KIADB and a common repository is made available to all users exploiting GIS technologies. This involved the collection of hardcopy maps of industrial areas and layouts – conversion from CAD to GIS format, attribute data collection, standardization and linking. The web based GIS system was put in place as an information system to collate and cleanup the datasets.

GIS mapping of all the Industrial Areas of KIADB which was earlier hosted on the KIADB Website as "KIADB Kaigarika Bhoomi" was changed to "Locate land For Industries" in the KIADB portal, where public/entrepreneur can search land based on status, acres and industrial area. The web application helps in identifying vacant industrial plots of different categories and types which can be chosen by entrepreneur to set up the business. The allotment and approval process of workflow management is tightly integrated within the GIS environment which enables the real time information dissemination of plots and transactions.

The benefits of GIS in Industrial development Boards are numerous, because GIS takes into consideration many different factors to help build an efficient and organized Industrial Area. One of the key features of KIADB GIS is multilayered mapping. Each of these layers has different types of information and data associated with it.

This multilayered capability can make a big difference when developing an area, for example places with nearest water bodies, nearest commuting points (Airport, Railways, Police Stations & Fire Stations), Information of the National Highways etc., which may help entrepreneurs to set up the IA's accordingly.

GIS Integration with Online services

The GIS screen is enabled with the following facilities/ functionalities:

List of vacant industrial plots is displayed and option for the user to select the plot based on Zone, district, industrial layout, category, and plot.
User shall have an option to choose minimum 3 plots based on his priority.
On identification of industrial layout, the layout map in GIS is zoomed automatically to its location and displays all properties.
GIS has color coding of allotted and vacant sites
The list of vacant properties and its reservation categories is displayed with the option of user selecting the listed vacant properties
Selection can be done- graphically and tabular selection.
On confirmation of selection, the priorities are assigned for the plots
On confirmation of selection for all 3 priorities, user is prompted to complete the selection process.

All transaction between KIADB online application and GIS application developed by KSRSAC is through web services.

Additional information on land acquisition & its development (Integrating the Village / Cadastral maps and information with Bhoomi linkage is already made available for departmental users.

GIS is quite a powerful tool, as can be seen through all of its applications in the field of Industrial development Boards. A potential user of GIS technology should have a clear understanding of the concepts of geographic information systems and recognize the spatial components of the potential application. Using a GIS is not just important for developing an IA's, it is almost necessary in today's fast-moving and highly technological landscape and provides an efficient, accurate, streamlined process for all users all while delivering service to our customer base expeditiously.

Geospatial Technology for State Election

Karnataka Election Information System a.k.a KEIS is a first of its kind spatial solution designed and developed by KSRSAC for Chief Electoral Office of Karnataka to spread awareness and to provide enhanced services to the citizens of Karnataka and thereby improving the voter turnout in the state by providing details like location of polling station and its facilities, navigation aids to booth and nearest facilities of importance, details of constituencies / contestants etc.

Due to affordability of the smartphone and the technology advancements integrated GPS, GIS and visualization techniques the planning, monitoring and decision making has improved. Chunavana, the mobile app developed as part of KEIS is an example of how these technologies were extensively and effectively used by all stakeholders (officers, government, enforcement agencies, political parties, contestants etc) in carrying out mapping, progress monitoring, decision making and providing the enhanced citizen services. For the citizens, it's the information hub on its fingers. KEIS and Chunavana is a big hit amongst the voter population in the state. Thanks to the popularity drive taken by CEO, Karnataka and the extensive media coverage which helped to spread the information very efficiently in the state.

In continuation to the successful utilization in the 2018 assembly elections of the state, the KEIS and Chunavana have updated itself with details relevant to Parliament Election 2019 of the state.Currently chunavana helps the physically handicapped and senior citizens to book for the wheel chairs and pickup facility from the residence to cast their vote, the fundamental right.

Bringing state's election data is challenging; mapping of polling station and its boundary took less than 3 months with scientist of KSRSAC and officials on election duty in a well planned, coordinated and systematic manner, initially. The same was verified and updated in less than 2 weeks.

Why do we need Geo-Spatial Technology for Election?

As per the census 2011, state has 34434169-male and 33687691-female population. W.r.t 68236674-total population, among this, the electoral population count is around 73.00%, which is very significant! To provide awareness and information to this much mass audience, the only possible way is through information technology and spatial technology; it facilitates citizens to check information on their finger tip, through colorful, vibrant, pleasant maps. Some of the challenges, which can be easily solved by the geospatial technology, are

Visibility to Redistricting: GIS simplifies the redistricting process by offering a clear view of all possible variations in the electoral map.

Streamline Election Management: Election officers must work together to ensure polls run efficiently and coordinate a wide range of factors, like inspecting polling places, providing for central processing unit, enabling monitoring process to provide enhanced facilities to voters,managing the emergency facilities and alternate plans, citizen communication etc.

Encourage Voter Participation: Government and nonprofit organizations attract more people to the polls by informing situation of polling booth: Queue length.

The application was also tested and approved for all security features from the empaneled list of web security audit agencies and is hosted in the Karnataka State Data Center, located in Bengaluru

Chunavana Mobile Application

The Chunavana Mobile application is a citizen centric app, which is extensively used by citizens and got lot of appreciation from users across the state for the richness in content, correctness and real-time availability of information.More than 2,00,000 users installed from Android Play store and iOS App store, till date. The number of active users has doubled in the month of Feb 2019. More than 25,000 user hits were recorded from Feb 2019 onwards, till 5th March 2019.

1.Finding the polling station, constituency details and route navigation by just entering the EPIC number.

2.Facility to book for wheel chair for senior citizen and physical challenged voters

3.The constituency wise voter-turnout was published in real-time for all urban stations and on periodical intervals of once in 2 hours

KPSIS: Mobile and Web Application - For Officers of Election Commission

Karnataka Polling Station Information System (KPSIS) is an mobile application developed specifically for capturing the photographs of polling booth room, buildings, infrastructure facilities and other associated attributes of every polling station that are needed for planning and decision making. It has various functionalities to monitor the progress, visualize/verify and approve the collected data through an workflow based systems. Progress monitoring was done by officers at different levels of hierarchy to monitor the progress and collate information of need.

KEIS - The Web Application

The web application developed by keeping the conventional and advance mechanism of data analysis; means both map and statistical representation has been maintained. The web version of the application has lots of value added information, statistics of voters, population, EP ratio, details and statistics of past assembly election, trends of assembly election, registrations for Wheelchair and pickup and drop facility on election day, to register as a Democracy Warrior etc. along with all facilities / functionalities available in mobile version (Chunavana). All the statistics and analysis are coupled with GIS based visualization. The GIS visualization of many statistics has flexible and user friendly operations like visualizing the data from district level to booth level, Option to compare the results and related data of last 2 elections. Apart, the option to visualize the results of elections is also available. Some of the GIS visualization of statistics and data include

1.GIS Map and query / visualization for Pooling station, booth boundary, constituency boundary

2.Comparative view on voter turnout, constituency wise winner / runner and margin, EP ratio

3.Booth wise, candidate wise number of votes of past elections.

In KEIS, The web/mobile applications has very content which are authenticated and updated. Hence, it has becomes more popular and stable in the market.The application developed has highly rich with thematic geospatial contents of various parameters.The information on Karnataka election (past & present) and relevant information are visualized in the GIS environment to empower the citizens and promote transparency in the democracy.

ಕುಕೀಸ್ : ನೀವು ಕೆಲವು ವೆಬ್ಸೈಟ್ಗಳಿಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿದಾಗ, ಅವರು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕಂಪ್ಯೂಟರ್ / ಕುಕೀಸ್ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುವ ಬ್ರೌಸಿಂಗ್ ಸಾಧನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಣ್ಣ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದ ಸಾಫ್ಟ್ವೇರ್ ಅನ್ನು ಡೌನ್ಲೋಡ್ ಮಾಡಬಹುದು. ಭವಿಷ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕಂಪ್ಯೂಟರ್ ಅನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಲು ಕೆಲವು ಕುಕೀಗಳು ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಸಂಗ್ರಹಿಸುತ್ತವೆ. ನಾವು ನಿರಂತರವಾದ ಕುಕೀಗಳನ್ನು ಅಥವಾ “ಪ್ರತಿ ಸೆಷನ್ ಕುಕೀಗಳನ್ನು” ಮಾತ್ರ ಬಳಸುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಈ ವೆಬ್ಸೈಟ್ ಮೂಲಕ ತಡೆರಹಿತ ಸಂಚರಣೆ ಒದಗಿಸುವಂತಹ ತಾಂತ್ರಿಕ ಉದ್ದೇಶಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತಿ ಸೆಷನ್ ಕುಕೀಗಳು ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತವೆ. ಈ ಕುಕೀಗಳು ಬಳಕೆದಾರರಲ್ಲಿ ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಸಂಗ್ರಹಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಮತ್ತು ನೀವು ನಮ್ಮ ವೆಬ್ಸೈಟ್ನಿಂದ ಹೊರಬಂದ ತಕ್ಷಣ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಅಳಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಕುಕೀಸ್ ಡೇಟಾವನ್ನು ಶಾಶ್ವತವಾಗಿ ರೆಕಾರ್ಡ್ ಮಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಮತ್ತು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕಂಪ್ಯೂಟರ್ನ ಹಾರ್ಡ್ ಡ್ರೈವ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಗ್ರಹಿಸಲಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಕುಕೀಗಳನ್ನು ಮೆಮೊರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಗ್ರಹಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಕ್ರಿಯ ಬ್ರೌಸರ್ ಅಧಿವೇಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಲಭ್ಯವಿದೆ. ಮತ್ತೆ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಬ್ರೌಸರ್ ಅನ್ನು ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಮುಚ್ಚಿದ ನಂತರ, ಕುಕೀ ಕಣ್ಮರೆಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
